We’ve been visiting temples in Japan our whole lives. They are places of reflection where we practice gratitude, seek guidance, and honour tradition. From Hatsumōde at the start of the year to quiet visits with family, these moments ground us. Some of the most memorable temples we’ve visited were in Ōita, where sacred spaces overlook the sea. The touch of sea salt in this scent is a nod to those coastal shrines, where the gentle burn of incense meets the ocean breeze.
