Inspired by our childhood, growing up spending our days in sandstone quarries, to running around the city and countryside of Japan, our brand represents an ode to who we are, our parents, our heritage.
RCK Candles is a representation, or a small piece of us.
Hi, we are Yuli and Aya, the founders of RCK Candles. Here is Our Story on how we started our small business!

When we were little, our playground wasn’t a swing set or a slide, it was a sandstone quarry; I know what you're thinking and don’t worry we were supervised! Our days were spent out in the Aussie sun rummaging through piles of rocks, collecting only the most suitable little rock’s to build a dollhouse.
We were immersed in the beauty of Australian sandstone, the fascination of the material starting from all the different shapes and sizes. Eventually becoming fascinated by the formation of the stone, and the different stories each piece conveyed. To, becoming more appreciative of the beauty and timelessness of the material, a vital part of the Sydney city landscape. Skip to now, where we now see the endless possibilities of using sandstone in many different ways.
On the other hand, we also grew up in the rich and traditional Japanese culture. Since we were young our mother would make sure we participated in Japanese cultural traditions here in Australia, as well as appreciate the language and foods. Often school lunches would be various Japanese dishes, like sushi rolls, katsu sandwiches, and if mum was really up for it, a full-on obento box. When we were younger we were only interested in modern Japan, like going to Disneyland, or anime marathons with our cousins. But as we get older, we now love and appreciate the traditional and deep historical parts of Japan too.

So there you have it, we had a pretty diverse upbringing! As any child growing up, ‘finding yourself’ or trying to find an identity that you fit into is pretty daunting. Growing up in between two completely different worlds, we sure had our fair share of moments. But throughout the years, we came to embrace this.

So, like our identity of being half Australian and half Japanese, an RCK Candle has Australian and Japanese attributes, becoming a harmonious blend between both worlds. The Australian sandstone sourced from Bundanoon Sandstone Quarries in the southern highlands of New South Wales, combined with the Japanese names for each fragrance that resonate with certain moments in our lives. As such, RCK Candles is not just a brand, but a representation of us, two sisters with a diverse upbringing, a unique fusion of Australian and Japanese cultures. It's a reminder that our differences are what make us special and that our unique identities should be celebrated. So light up an RCK Candle, and let the fragrance take you on a journey of cultural exploration. It's a small piece of our heart and soul, and we hope it brings warmth and joy to your home.
